After Spain's highest court sentenced nine Catalan separatist leaders to prison, thousands of people have demonstrated in Barcelona and at El Prat Airport. More than 100 flights have been canceled.

SVT's European correspondent Christoffer Wendick was at the airport.

- We saw an injured guy being carried away. Then we and the protesters were abducted by the police.

When Christoffer Wendick was at a parking garage at terminal one, it became riotous again.

- I heard several shots and my first thought was that it was from rubber bullets. We have seen pictures of people hit by the police's rubber bullets, he says.
