Several bridges were forced open when the cargo ship Rix Emeralds went through the Göta River without being able to reduce the hatred.

The ship with the Cypriot flag was on its way from Lilla Edet to Montrose in the United Kingdom. Initially it was stated that the ship could not stop, but that was not the case, it was possible to turn off the ship's engines completely but then it could not be controlled from the dock. Therefore, the decision was made to let the ship continue and be piloted through the river.

"Remarkable"

The ship lay to the southeast of Hönö, but later on Friday evening it was discovered that it was moving on, without a clearance from the Swedish Transport Agency.

- I called the commander who said "I have no problem" and hung up, says Pekka Piirainen to SVT News West.

Tracelessly disappeared

Almost a day later, the ship had disappeared without a trace and could not be traced via the AIS - Automatic Identification System, which allows the tracking of large vessels. DN was the first to report on.

- After Skagen where the ship was last located, her AIS track disappears and will not appear until yesterday, last Sunday. Then you find it in the middle of the North Sea on the way to Montrose in Scotland, says Pekka Piirainen.

Put a ban on use

He says that he has contacted the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, MCA, the UK authority, which handles security issues at sea, and hopes that the English authorities will investigate the incident well in Scotland.

- If it is not orderly, the English can put a ban on use on the ship, which means that the ship cannot leave until the deficiencies are rectified on board and explain what happened, says Pekka Piirainen, who is very surprised at the incident.

- It is the first time in my 30 years in the profession that I have been involved with something so rude, he says.

When SVT News West calls the ship's commander, he answers but hangs up after we introduce ourselves.
