• Poland to vote. A divided opposition tries to resist the PiS

October 13, 2019The conservatives in government in Poland have an absolute majority. This is what emerges from the first exit polls at the close of the seats for the renewal of the Parliament.

The party "Law and Justice" (Pis) of the leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski would in fact have 43.6%, with 239 seats out of 460: the Polish broadcaster TVN 23 reports it announcing the Ipsos exit-polls.

The main opposition group, the Civic Center Coalition formed by the Civic Platform founded by the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, would have collected 27.4%.

According to the Ipsos poll, La Sinistra (Lewica), which joins other parties with the Alliance of the Democratic Left (Sld) left outside Parliament in 2015, would have taken 11.9%. To the Polish coalition (Kp), the block that includes the ruralist and conservative Polish Popular Party (PSL) would go to 9.6%. The nationalists of the Confederation Freedom and Independence would get 6.4%.
