• Brexit. The EU authorizes its chief negotiator of Brexit to intensify negotiations with London with the utmost discretion

The acting President of the Government and the British Prime Minister held a telephone conversation on Saturday, at 7:00 p.m., at the latter's request.

Government sources say it has been a cordial and constructive conversation. Pedro Sánchez and Boris Johnson have mainly addressed the latest British proposal for an agreement on Brexit and discussions in Brussels between the British and Michel Barnier, commissioned by the EU for the Brexit negotiations.

Among other issues, they have also talked about the rights of Spaniards and Britons in case of a hard Brexit and Gibraltar.

Among Johnson's ideas would be that Northern Ireland continues within the customs union, as well as this region waiving the right of veto over upcoming agreements.
