Thus, as stated in Latvia, holding a firework in Moscow in honor of this event is regarded in Riga as an “unfriendly step”.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense published declassified documents for the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Riga.

In a special historical section “Lights of Free Riga” on the agency’s website, in particular, newspaper publications are presented that convey the solemn atmosphere of the liberation of the city in October 1944.

In July, the Moscow 24 website reported that 17 fireworks were planned on Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow in honor of the liberation of European cities from Nazi invaders.
