NEW YORK (Reuters) - Four people were killed and three wounded early Saturday in a New York hall of "illegal betting," police said.

Police said four men were killed and three others - two men and a woman - were taken to hospital, but their lives were not in danger.

No one was arrested this morning, and police appear to rule out the premise of settling accounts between gangs.

"It is still too early to tell if it is a dispute because of betting or theft," New York police official Dermot Shi told reporters.

The victims were aged between 32 and 49, and two firearms were found at the scene, according to the first elements of the investigation.

New York police said at least 15 gunshots were fired at the scene.

It is noteworthy that the city of New York last September, 67 incidents involving the use of firearms, compared to 71 in the same month last year, according to statistics released by the police days ago.

Other fires
Police said two people were injured Saturday in a shooting during a wedding ceremony at a church in the town of Pelham, New Hampshire.

Pelham police said in a statement that the shooting "was not an apparently indiscriminate incident." Without giving details. She said she would not reveal the identities of the victims and the suspect.

The shooting postponed the funeral of the priest, Luis Garcia, who was to be held at the church on Saturday noon. Authorities have charged a man with a criminal record in drug-related offenses for the murder of the priest, who remains in detention.
