At least nine people were killed and 13 more were injured when the bus they were traveling on was hit when trying to win the train at a crossroads in the municipality of San Juan del Río, in the central Mexican state of Querétaro, authorities said.

The bus, which carried 40 passengers, sought to cross the road before the train in the community of La Valla, San Juan del Río, and was hit causing the immediate death of nine passengers and injured thirteen others, of which two They are in delicate condition and six others in serious condition.

"Unfortunately the imprudence of the driver, a 21-year-old person, tried to beat the train. Unfortunately, the train takes the vehicle, the truck with the passengers, at that time we have nine people who have died," said Juan Marcos Granados, head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Querétaro.

The driver was admitted injured to a hospital in detention condition, reported the Prosecutor of Justice of the state of Querétaro, responsible for making the reports at the site of the accident.

The injured were taken to the general hospital of San Juan Del Río where the state governor, Francisco Domínguez Servién, gave instructions for their attention and support to the victims.
