As a result of Turkey's offensive in northern Syria, the Migration Agency will now look at whether people can be deported to Hassakah in the northeastern part of the country. The authority is currently working to create a clear picture of the situation.

- Our decision-makers already consider the internal armed conflict in the area today. At present, no one is at risk of having to return to Hassakah, writes Fredrik Beijer on the Migration Board's website.

A few have returned

Since 2013, virtually all asylum seekers from Syria have been granted asylum, until August this year. The Migration Board then took a new position which meant that fewer Syrians would be granted asylum, as they considered that the level of conflict had decreased in certain areas.

In an email to SVT News, the Swedish Migration Board writes that only a few people have returned to Syren since they changed their position in August. It should then concern persons who have returned voluntarily.
