It was late in the evening when the ship landed outside Hittarp - the captain was suspected of seafill early and was arrested the day after the ground strike. Later that week he was arrested.

According to the indictment, the man must have been severely affected by alcohol and fell asleep at the helm. In interrogation, the man stated that he slept for more than 20 minutes.

Prosecution: Steered the ship towards land

The captain steered the ship, with a crew of seven people, towards shore when it landed. Something that could have posed great danger to maritime safety, according to the indictment.

He is also charged with gross negligence in traffic - the captain has failed in his attention at sea and communication with Swedish authorities has not worked at all, according to the indictment.

Captain: I drank two beers

In the interrogation, the captain says he drank two beers earlier in the day - and admits to slumbering at the helm. But he denies the crime. According to the indictment, the man should have had 0.59 milligrams per liter in the exhaled air.

The Monitoring Center Sound VTS must have tried to contact the ship several times, since they observed that the ship was on its way to ground / land. But they never made contact with the ship.

The captain also says in interrogation that he thinks he woke up by Sound VTS shouting at him - then the ship should have already gone under.
