“We discussed Turkey’s acquisition of Russian S-400 systems. I reiterated NATO's concern for this decision. These systems are not compatible with the capabilities of NATO air defense and pose a potential threat to the military aviation of the countries of the alliance, ”said Stoltenberg.

He noted the intention of NATO to continue to support Turkey in "providing air defense" of the territory adjacent to the Syrian border.

Stoltenberg also added that Turkey does not refuse to negotiate with the United States and other countries of the alliance on the acquisition of their air defense systems.

Earlier, US senators called for officially considering Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400 a violation of the United States law on countering opponents through sanctions.
