Skellefteå rose immediately after the 1-5 blow away to Örebro last Saturday. The Western Bots drove - at least on target - over Malmö on away ice and won by 4-0.

For example, a formidable Malmö - no loss during the regular five games - won the shots by 27-21, but lacked efficiency and discipline in front of both his own and the opponent's goals.

First goal for Frödén

Skellefteå's lead goal came after just over eight minutes. Via a quick conversion and a delicious long pass from Petter Granberg, Jonatan Berggren was able to drop the puck behind his back to Linus Lindström, who sent in 1-0 behind Oscar Alsenfelt in the Malmo goal.

Eleven minutes later it fell 2-0 - and that was a goal that a certain player had been waiting for. Forward Jesper Frödén has been a reliable scorer for AIK and Södertälje in the ice hockey league for many seasons, but the 25-year-old has been waiting for the first SHL goal in his new club Skellefteå.

In the ninth season series, however, Frödén was finally able to whip a return and crack his goal zero in the country's highest ice hockey series.

Just over seven minutes into the second act, 3-0 also came to the away team when Filip Berglund, far too easily, could extend the lead in numerical superiority.

Malmö created goal chances, but either Gustaf Lindvall was stable in goal or missed the home players in decisive positions. And defensively, the Scouts were far too kind in front of their own goal.

Match penalty for Persson

In the final stage of the second period, Malmöforward Carl Persson received a match penalty and five minutes of expulsion for - what the judges said - an elbow attack in the head of Skellefteåbacken Jonathan Pudas.

The away team was thus allowed to start the third period with games in numerical superiority for just under four minutes, but Malmö held out the tough start.

To no avail, it would turn out. Skellefteå skillfully played the final period and with just over five minutes left to play Andreas Wingerli increased to 4-0.
