The Sharjah Criminal Court has tried a case in which a person of Arab nationality is charged with assaulting a policeman while performing his duty, beating him during his arrest while pursuing a woman in the public street.

The details of the incident came back when a report from a woman, after midnight, that there was a person chasing her in the main street, his condition is abnormal, and the police responded to the report, and moved the nearest patrol of the site, found the suspect and arrested him, and asked him to identify him and searched and refused, and the police noticed that the situation is abnormal He found him under the influence of alcoholic beverages, and in an attempt to detain him, he assaulted the officers and insulted them, which led them to register an assault case against him, and referred him to the prosecution and then to the court.

The court heard the witness's testimony in the case, stressing that while he was in the security center, a person heard his voice loud late at night, pointing out that he went to the place of the sound from the interrogation room of the accused, and found him refusing to search him unrestricted, pushing and assaulting an individual Police beat him on the chest and tried to intervene to calm him down, but the accused beat him and assaulted him.

He added: «the officer on duty and accused the defendant to abide by the laws and allow them to search, but refused», noting that the accused was under the influence of alcoholic beverages, pointing out that he was controlled and detained and transferred to the prosecution and the court.

The court confronted the defendant with the charges against him. He denied the assault on the police officers and said that the reason for his arrest was a communication from a woman against him, stating that she was being pursued at night. After the police arrived, he was arrested and taken from the street.

The court decided to postpone the case until October 27, to summon the rest of the witnesses as the accused continued to be imprisoned.
