Besides the fact that large amounts of rainwater is a problem, the stormwater is not purified either, but it usually flows directly into lakes and streams.
The new strategy aims to create opportunities for stormwater to be purified in the same way as in nature before it reaches the watercourses.
The idea is, among other things, that the stormwater problem should be raised at an early stage when new areas are to be exploited.
- Yes, it is about giving the issue a more central role and emphasizing that everyone must be helped. My experience is that it is easier to deal with the problems with stormwater at an early stage, than to make adjustments afterwards, says Maria Rothman, project manager at Norrköping Municipality's municipal building office.
