09 October 2019The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to John B. Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino "for the development of lithium ion batteries" that have revolutionized our lives and are in all cell phones, laptops and electric vehicles.

The three winners thus opened the way to sources of energy other than fossil fuels.
