- I think they should let us stay here, what should we do in town and do when we do not want to live there? We live at least as well here, I think we live better here than how we can live in town, says Elis Enbuske, resident at Ängsbacken in Misterhult.
SEK 30 million will be saved for two years by the Social Committee in Oskarshamn municipality. After saving close to 50 million during the last term, individual businesses will be able to take the hit when the social welfare committee again needs to save. Instead, it is proposed that many elderly people should move to the center of Oskarshamn, to larger homes.
Many small accommodations- Oskarshamn differs from many other municipalities. We have a structure with many small accommodation which gives a large operating cost per day. At the same time, we are investing in 84 new locations on Hantverksgatan and Solbacka. Thus, new places are added and no staff are left without work. However, we are forced to close down housing in the outer areas, says Rolf Lindström (M), chairman of the Oskarshamn Social Committee.
The decision should not affect the four other residences located outside Oskarshamn, that is, each in Påskallavik, Bockara, Figeholm and Kristdala.
Before the proposal is finalized, it must pass the municipal council and finally the municipal council in November.
