EU will request a meeting of the UN Security Council on Turkey’s operation in Syria

Belgium Permanent Representative to the UN Mark Pexten said that France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland and Belgium will request a meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the military operation of Turkey in northern Syria.



"The five EU countries will request a meeting, probably tomorrow morning," RIA Novosti quotes the words of the Permanent Representative of Belgium to the UN, Mark Pexten.

Earlier, Turkey launched an operation in Syria, as stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to the head of state, the operation "will eliminate the terrorist threat against Turkey."

France and Germany opposed the operation.
