Slovenian Kristijan Koren, involved in the Aderlass case, was suspended for two years "for anti-doping rule violations in 2011 and 2012," the International Cycling Union (UCI) said on Wednesday.

Slovenia's Borut Bozic, who ended his career at the end of 2018 before joining the Bahrain team, received the same penalty for crimes committed in 2012.

Both had been suspended provisionally last May, along with another active runner, Croatian Kristijan Durasek and Italy's Alessandro Petacchi, who became a consultant after his career ended.

Koren, 32, has been racing in a WorldTour team since 2010, the year of his only success gained outside his home country (Camaiore GP). In 2011 and 2012, he wore the colors of the Italian Liquigas training.

"Both cases have been resolved by accepting the consequences in accordance with the UCI's World Anti-Doping Code and Anti-Doping Regulations," said the International Federation, adding that a call from the World Anti-Doping Agency or the National Agency competent was possible.

The Aderlass case ("bleeding" in German) revolves around the German doctor Mark Schmidt, arrested on February 27 at his Erfurt (Germany) office on the sidelines of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld (Austria).
