“Reporters Without Borders” calls for the immediate release of Yulia Yuzik, a Russian journalist who was detained in Iran on October 2 and who has still not been given the opportunity to see a lawyer or employees of the Russian embassy, ”the organization’s website said in a statement.
Earlier, the Iranian government said that Yuzik was detained in Tehran due to visa problems.
The head of the Russian Human Rights Council, Mikhail Fedotov, appealed to Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Sanai in connection with the detention of Yuzik demanding her release from custody during the proceedings on the Russian woman.
Yuzik was arrested on October 2 in a Tehran hotel. The Russian Embassy stated that she had not notified the diplomatic mission about the difficulties associated with the seizure of her passport at the airport.
