Yemen's Foreign Minister Mohammed Abdullah al-Hadrami said Tuesday the government welcomed Saudi efforts to end the rebellion of the southern transitional council in some southern provinces.

According to the local source in Socotra that the new security director Fayez Salem Tahas was handed over his duties, days after the leaders of the dismissed security director Ali al-Rajdhi rebelled with gunmen from the formations of the UAE-backed security belt. The source added that the handover to the new administration came after Saudi mediation in cooperation with the local authority.

Rajdhi led the insurgency in Socotra after his dismissal, stationed with members of the security belt inside the main police station in the city of Hadibu, before the success of mediation and ending the rebellion. The police station is to be handed over to the local authority later.

Jeddah Dialogue
Meanwhile, Yemeni Foreign Minister Mohammed Abdullah al-Hadrami wrote on Twitter that the government welcomes Saudi efforts to end the insurgency in some southern provinces. He added that the government is keen on the success of the Jeddah dialogue according to the determinants of maintaining the unity of Yemen and the integration of military formations.

Al-Hadrami called for avoiding escalation in order to make the dialogue a success, saying that raising tensions in Socotra serves no one.

Saudi Arabia is sponsoring a dialogue in Jeddah between representatives of the Yemeni government and the so-called UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council after it led a rebellion against government authorities in Aden and other southern provinces last August.

In the context of the fighting between the Yemeni army forces and the Houthis, local sources said that the army regained control of areas in the Directorate of Qatoba in the province of Dali in southern Yemen.

The sources added that the army forces took control of the Zubayriat hills and Hajar area, in addition to the market complex of the luxurious markets of the Directorate of Qatoba. Military sources said 15 Houthi gunmen were killed and wounded, while 11 army personnel were killed and wounded.

Meanwhile, military spokesman for the Houthi group Yahya Sari said that the armed forces (the group) will respond to any attack by the Saudi-Emirati coalition forces whatsoever, and that the air defenses will address any breach even if it was from a reconnaissance aircraft, he said.

He added that the coalition launched more than 300 raids that have killed dozens since the Houthis presented their initiative for a ceasefire, and he believes that this confirms the lack of seriousness of the coalition to reach a ceasefire.

The Houthis in Sanaa today commemorated the third anniversary of the bombing of the Saudi-Emirati coalition and hit a mourning tent in the Yemeni capital, which killed about 140 people.
