"Today, on behalf of President Donald Trump, his legal adviser Pat Cipollone sent a letter to Speaker (House of Representatives Nancy. - RT ) Pelosi and the heads of congressional committees Engel, Schiff, and Cummings," the statement said on the White House website.

It is noted that this letter shows that "in the investigation of the Democrats there are no legal constitutional grounds, no semblance of an honest approach and the elementary observance of guarantees of legal proceedings."

“In the process (impeachment. - RT ) they violate civil liberties and the principle of separation of powers, threatening executive officials with punishment simply for exercising their constitutional rights and prerogatives,” the White House emphasized.

The statement said that "all this violates the Constitution, the rule of law and all past precedents" and "for these reasons, the executive branch cannot be expected to not participate in this doctrine of the partisan political theater."

In September, Pelosi announced the start of the Trump impeachment procedure due to his telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said some members of Congress are harassing the Department of State in connection with Democrats' attempts to remove Trump from power.

According to him, some members of Congress contacted employees of the State Department directly and tried to force them to “provide documents” belonging to the department.

Trump, in turn, accused Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi of high treason and advocated for her "immediate impeachment."
