Now the tours around the planned building of Uddevalla's new bathhouse are taking a new turn. The bathhouse, which was built in 1974, has long been in need of renovation. Already in 2006, the first investigation into a new bathhouse was started. But only in 2016 did the first decision come: the new bathhouse would be built in the same location as the current Walkesborg bath, which SVT Nyheter Väst has previously reported. The cost was estimated at around SEK 400 million.

The parties swing on the issue

Earlier this year, the City Council voted that the bathhouse should instead be built on Rimnersvallen, where there are other sports facilities. But that proposal was voted down and instead it was decided to follow the original plan and build the new one where the old one is located.

But now you start with the bath house issue again. Due to the County Administrative Board demanding landslide measures, the current building has been delayed. Therefore, the majority of the collaboration, which includes M, C, KD, L, UP and MP, have investigated a new location for the bathhouse, reports P4 West.

Also want to build a spa

During a press conference on Tuesday, the majority of the collaboration made a complete reversal. The plans for the new bathhouse in central Uddevalla are being torn down. Instead, the parties now want to build a facility for exercise and competition swimming, a swimming arena with SM-quality, on Rimnersvallen. At the same time, the majority of the cooperation wants to build a recreation facility in central Uddevalla.
