On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, in conjunction with the Arab Children's Day and the International Day of Non-Violence, the Center for Protection and Social Rehabilitation in Qatar (AMAN) organized an interactive forum entitled "Child Protection Mechanisms", in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

The National Human Rights Committee, the Behavioral Health Support Center, the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, the Dereema Center for Orphans Care, and Wefaq Family Counseling participated in the forum, which was held in Doha on Monday.

The aim of the forum is to show the most important mechanisms of child protection and provide specialists with skills to educate children to protect themselves from any abuse they may be exposed to, in a simple and practical scientific methods and attractive.

Aman Center Executive Director (under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Action) Mansour Al-Yafi said that the issue of child protection is gaining increasing importance in light of the developments witnessed by the society, such as violent electronic games, and the increasing rates of bullying and harassment globally, which calls for concerted efforts to educate children and their parents. Parents, teachers and specialists in the foundations and mechanisms of proper protection.

Don't Touch Me Campaign
Zainab Al-Mahmoud, a specialist at the Aman Center, reviewed the problems of bullying and harassment as global phenomena, with an explanation of the “Don't Touch Me” campaign to raise awareness against harassment, an educational campaign that seeks to educate children about ways to protect themselves, identify the right and wrong touches, and promote the concepts of strange and near, and how to deal With them, using attractive new ways to communicate the message, such as using a robot Don't Touch Me, which shows the child how to deal with the harasser.

For its part, the specialist from the Aman Sharifa Al Saad pointed to the electronic applications developed by the Center, as one of the mechanisms to protect children from harassment and bullying, such as the mobile application "help me" to seek help when the child is exposed to any risks, and the mobile application "Bilgani" which was launched pilot To report any harmful scenes, behaviors or games, as well as alternative solutions for children such as sitting on the Internet at a rate of two hours a day, and the use of child-friendly games and free of violence, such as a safety game "Fishing, diving".

The forum included a number of axes, the most important of which are education and care, where the difference between education and care was clarified, as well as the digital education and the importance of parents and parents to follow the settings of the devices for the child.

The strength of communities is measured by the level of care and education provided to children.

Amal Al-Mannai, Executive Director of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, said that the essence of the celebration of the Convention on the Rights of the Child ratified by the State of Qatar in 1995 is to activate its provisions in practice, which is reflected in the activities, programs and applications of the centers under the umbrella of the Foundation.

She added that the work in the field of childhood requires the coordination of efforts between different sectors, and these institutions will contribute to support community efforts, and maximize the benefits for the target groups.

Ali Al-Kuwari, Director of School Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, stressed that education is a cornerstone of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and that the Ministry seeks to support the efforts of civil society through partnership in various activities that support the rights of the child in general, and the right of the child to education in particular.

The International Children's Day is celebrated annually in the Arab world with the aim of sensitizing the community on the importance of children's issues.
