It was the public who found the object and at 17.06 the police were alerted.
"We have asked the National Bomb Guard to look at the object and they have said that we should treat it as a dangerous object," says Fredrik Andersson, security officer at the Stockholm Police.
The police have blocked off an area around the object and housed nearby.
- This means that you should stay in your apartment and not stand by the window, while we and the bomb guard take care of this, says Fredrik Andersson.
At 19.45, the police stated that the barriers will be lifted within 30 minutes. National bomb protection has taken care of the object and may blow it up.
- What we are going to do now is to shred the object or remove it from there. Those who have been asked to stay inside need not be worried, says Fredrik Andersson.
