As we previously reported, the message came in November last year that Östersund lost the hosting for 2020 to Finnish Kontiolahti, but had to keep it for 2021. This summer, since then the International Biathlon Association (IBU) changed to the concept of shared hosting.

During Tuesday's meeting of the Östersund municipal council, it was formally decided that they would host the World Cup premiere in biathlon both in 2020 and 2021. The competitions are thus shared with Kontiolahti.

The Culture and Leisure Committee will receive SEK 900,000 in grants next year to sign an event agreement for the competitions.
