Why does the King receive a grant?
The king carries apanage because he is Sweden's head of state with the mission to represent Sweden. The decision that the king should receive a grant is related to the 1809 form of government. Today's guidelines state that the money should also go to "his family". The Kungahuset sends supporting documents to the Ministry of Finance and reports on its activities, after which it is the government that decides on the sum. In practice, the monopoly is increased at the same rate as the price increases for goods and services.
Who gets money?
Everyone who is part of the throne is part of the apanage. They also have a duty to represent Sweden. In addition to the royal couple, there have been Crown Princess Victoria with family and Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine and their families, Chris O'Neill exceptions. The decision that the latter's five children will no longer be included in the succession, will in the future reduce the number of people who will share the money.
How is the monkey distributed?
It is the king himself who decides how the money should be distributed among the royal. Anyone who takes part in the monopoly must not have any other paid work aside, this was partly why Prince Daniel stopped working when he married Crown Princess Victoria. Several of the royals, on the other hand, own companies in which they manage their private assets and also receive dividends.
What is the money for?
The money will be used for entertainment, travel and the costs of the court staff of just over 200 people. Since 2013, the Hov States must report their finances every year, including expenses for representation and travel.
