Since 2006, the municipality of Norrköping has contributed over SEK 270 million of tax money to keep the airport under arms. The future of the airport will now be discussed in an investigation, which Folkbladet was the first to report on. Municipal councils Lars Stjernkvist and Reidar Svedahl do not want to comment on the future of the airport, but so does the opposition.

- It is good to do an investigation again, even though it was not so many years ago. This time it will be investigated if it is really needed, says the opposition council Mia Sköld (MP).

Disagreement about the airport

Among other things, the Environment Party has been critical of the many million grants that the municipality has made over the years. From them, it has been argued that the airport should bear its own costs and not shared the view that an airport is important for the future of business in the municipality.

- To invest in aviation is to build up Norrköping's infrastructure, the municipal council Reidar Svedahl (L) said earlier.

- It has been said before that entrepreneurs will move from here, or that there will be no new start-ups in Norrköping if there are no flights. Now we have no regular flights, but no one has moved, says opposition council Mia Sköld (MP).
