The parties discussed prospects for the development of the situation in and around Syria "with an emphasis on the need for sustainable promotion of a political settlement in accordance with the decisions of the Congress of the Syrian national dialogue in Sochi and the provisions of UNSC resolution 2254."

“The Russian side reaffirmed its invariable position in support of maintaining the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the ATS and efforts to finally eliminate the presence of international terrorism in this country,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier it was reported that Lavrov had a meeting in Erbil with the Prime Minister of the Kurdish Autonomous Region Masrour Barzani.
