The eDiamond Award is awarded to the organization that during the year offered new opportunities to citizens, companies and their own organization through socially useful e-services. One of the six finalists is Halmstad Municipality.

- It feels fantastic, having come this far feels honored, says Jennie Vidal, head of the home care administration in Halmstad Municipality.

The municipality is nominated for their work with smart homes for the elderly, which is a collaboration between Region Halland, HFAB, Halmstad city network, Health Technology Center and Halmstad University. Together they produced the digitized apartments in Getinge which were inaugurated last year.

"The future has an aging population"

The apartments are equipped with, among other things, automatic joint lighting on the walls and a digital viewing eye on the door, and the digital functions are designed to facilitate and give the elderly a safer everyday life.

- The future has an aging population. Therefore, we need to make sure that new welfare services are created that make it easier for them to live everyday and provide opportunities to receive care and care longer at home. Our strategy is that all housing and apartments being built should have the digital infrastructure to meet future needs and requirements, says Jennie Vidal.

Whoever wins the prize is presented later in the week.
