It could have been an autumn and a winter again for the East Indies farmer Götheborg in silence again. With half masts and sails packed. A ship without a crew that fills her with love and where the tar odor sits heavily in the wood. With a longing for the seas, which she was built to meet.

Many people were saddened by the message brought two years ago: that Gothenburg would no longer sail, but instead become a permanent tourist attraction lying at the quay. But then something happened, a sponsor took over and it was decided that she would meet the winds again.

Suffering from leakage

On Monday she left for her own machine, without sails, from Eriksberg to be put on laps a month. Here she will receive maintenance where, among other things, she must seal the leaks that always occur on wooden ships.

- Yes, there has been some leakage, and we will look at that now, if there is a reason for where it came from, or if it was a natural leak, says Peter Alexandersson.

From June next year, the idea is that Gothenburg will sail again. Between 10 - 15 ports will be visited around the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.

- Interest is huge right now, it hails into conversations, e-mails and visits, says Peter Alexandersson, CEO of SOIC.

Dream of China

It is long before she may, a second time, be able to go to China again in 2021 or 2022, where she was then warmly received in Canton 2006. So the hope and the dream of a new journey are alive.

How much chance do you think a second China trip will be?

- It was a difficult question, says Peter Alexandersson. I think this is the best chance we have ever had!
