The US president, Donald Trump, said Monday that "it is time to go out of ridiculous endless wars" by justifying his announcement of withdrawal of troops from Syria, and remarked that Washington will only fight battles for its "benefit."

"It is time for us to withdraw from these ridiculous endless wars , many of them tribal, and return our soldiers home," Trump said in a message on his Twitter account.

"WE WILL FIGHT WHERE IT IS FOR OUR BENEFIT, AND WE WILL ONLY FIGHT TO WIN. Turkey, Europe, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russia and the Kurds will have to solve the situation, and see what they want to do with the fighters captured by the Islamic State in their ' neighborhood, "said the president.

The ruler announced on Sunday night, surprisingly, the departure of US troops from northern Syria in the face of Turkey's impending military operation against Kurdish militias in that area, an attack in which Washington does not want to be involved.

In a statement, White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham explained that Trump informed his decision to his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, through a phone call.

This weekend, Erdogan warned that a military intervention in Syrian territory against Kurdish militias in the east of the Euphrates River is "imminent," and said Ankara ran out of patience to wait for US support in this action.

The objective of the operation is to end the Kurdish militia Units for the Protection of the People (YPG), one of Washington's most loyal allies in the fight against the Islamic State (IS), but considered "terrorists" by Ankara for its links with the banned Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), the active Kurdish guerrillas in Turkey.

In its statement, the White House also announced that, from now on, Turkey "will be responsible" for all IS fighters who are in northern Syria and have been captured in the last two years after the group jihadist lost territorial control of that area.

Trump also complained about the refusal of some European nations to welcome and judge their citizens , converted into IS soldiers, and warned that the US will no longer bear that cost.
