The CBS studio will produce a mini-series inspired by the book of former FBI director James Comey, thanked by Donald Trump in 2017 and criticism of the American president.

Irish comedian Brendan Gleeson will play the US president, the studio revealed on his Twitter account on Monday.

The 64-year-old actor has been nominated several times for the Golden Globes and is best known for his remarkable rendition of Winston Churchill in "At the Heart of the Storm" (2009).

The CBS group has not yet announced the release date or the chosen channel. It will be the online video platform CBS All Access, the cable channel Showtime, or both, told AFP a source close to the studio.

James Comey will be played by American actor Jeff Daniels, also a multiple Golden Globes nominee, and currently on Broadway's showpiece of the year, "Do not Shoot the Mocking Bird".

Posted on April 17, 2018, "Lies and Truths" was one of the first books to expose from within the Trump Administration's operation.

The 58-year-old former FBI director portrays Donald Trump as a dishonest and egocentric character, comparing his methods to those of a mafia boss. The book has sold more than a million copies in the United States.

James Comey testified at a Senate hearing in June 2017 that he had been asked by the President to drop a part of the investigation into possible Russian interference involving General Michael Flynn, his former adviser to the United States. national security.

Donald Trump fired Mr Comey without regard on 9 May 2017, while his services investigated possible links between members of Donald Trump's campaign team and Moscow.

Officially, the decision is related to the way in which James Comey managed the end of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use, when she was secretary of state for the Obama administration, of a private server to receive official emails.

According to several American media, Donald Trump would have used this case as an excuse to dismiss James Comey, exasperated by a Russian investigation that he described as "witch hunt".
