“The detention and interrogation by the FBI of the State Duma deputy Inga Yumasheva at the New York airport is an unheard-of impudence provocation. The United States, having launched a diplomatic war in 2016, continues to act low and vile, against all the rules, ”the deputy wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, Yumasheva is a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and has a diplomatic passport.

“Because of this, I regard the FBI’s detention of Yumasheva for an hour as absolutely unlawful,” said Slutsky, noting that the Russian side was awaiting an explanation from the US authorities.

Earlier it became known that an FBI officer questioned State Duma deputy Yumasheva, who arrived in the United States to participate in the Fort Ross Dialogue, at the New York Airport.

According to the Russian embassy, Yumasheva was offered to "meet with the FBI officer in a different, informal atmosphere and continue this conversation."

After the incident, the Russian diplomatic service sent a note of protest to the State Department. The deputy herself refused to comment on the interrogation, according to her, Russian diplomats are involved in the situation.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called the situation a cynical provocation, and also noted that the actions of US intelligence agencies deserve to be condemned.
