The Pentagon responded to Erdogan's words about the possible start of an operation in Syria

“We focused on making the security mechanism work. This is the best way forward for all of us. Any uncoordinated military operation in Turkey will cause serious concern, since it can undermine our common interests with regard to ensuring security in northeastern Syria and defeating the Islamic State *, ”the department said.

Erdogan said earlier that Turkey could decide on a military operation in northern Syria in the coming days.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said Washington and Ankara’s attempts to create a security zone in northern Syria are in violation of international law and the UN Charter.
