In 1994, Jönköping University was transformed into a foundation college. In 1991, the bourgeois government had expressed a desire to create more independent universities and colleges and the University of Jönköping and Chalmers in Gothenburg were offered the opportunity to become foundation colleges, JU says in a press release.

Four professional collegesJönköping University today consists of four professional colleges. The International School of Business, The School of Learning and Communication, The School of Engineering and The School of Health.
This coming week, this will be celebrated with a number of activities at the University, including open lectures, exhibitions and an academic holiday.
