By 2020, Kungsbacka Municipality is expected to save 20 million, of which SEK 10 million will be taken from the preschool. The money saved will be used to invest in schools and sports arenas.

- When you look at where we in the municipality have high costs compared to other municipalities, it is preschool. Therefore, it is reasonable to take half of this money from the preschool, says Anders Ekström (M), chair of the board of preschool and elementary school.

Looking ahead, it is also planned to save an additional SEK 20 million in 2022, but whether or not it is currently unclear.

Increased number of sick leave from staff

Principal safety representative and deputy municipal representative for the Teachers National Association Örjan Modén looks negatively at the planned savings.

- Savings within the school increase the number of sick leave of staff as there will be an increased workload, says Örjan Modén.

- It seems to be going pretty well in other municipalities, so why should it cost a lot more for taxpayers in Kungsbacka, says Anders Ekström (M)
