Russia has proposed moving the work of the First Committee of the UN General Assembly from the United States

According to him, this step can help normalize the work of this committee.

“In order to normalize the work of the First Committee and the CDF (UN Disarmament Commission), we consider it necessary to consider holding their respective sessions in 2020 outside the United States, for example, in Vienna or Geneva,” he said.

As Polyansky noted, Russia is ready to hold discussions on this topic during the current session of the UN General Assembly.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged to think about moving international events from the United States.

Later, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the Iranian side will support the transfer of UN headquarters from the United States to another country, if such an issue is discussed.
