North Korea has confirmed on Thursday that on Wednesday it launched a new missile from a submarine and has ensured that the test is an "important achievement" in the face of threats from "external forces."

The official agency of the Pyongyang regime, KCNA, thus confirms the versions that had been released on Wednesday from South Korea on this launch of a ballistic missile from a submarine (SLBM), although it did not give details of its trajectory.

KCNA has also noted that this is the third version of its Pukguksong (Polar Star) missile and has said that the launch was made from Wonsan Bay, on the North Korean east coast.

The essay was conducted by the North Korean Academy of Defense Sciences, but Pyongyang regime leader Kim Jong-un was absent, although he did send "warm congratulations" to the responsible team, according to official information.

This is the first trial with a North Korean SLBM mission since it successfully fired a Pukguksong-1 projectile for the first time in August 2016.

As reported by the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, the missile was fired at 7.11 local time on Wednesday (22.11 GMT on Tuesday), reached a maximum height of 910 kilometers and flew 450 kilometers to the east.

KCNA information has indicated that the missile flew in a "vertical mode" in order to increase its height. If I had a normal ballistic trajectory I would have traveled a greater distance.

The projectile, according to reports from the Tokyo Government, was separated into two sections and one of them fell into the waters of Japan's exclusive economic zone , which prompted a protest from the Shinzo Abe Government.

In realizing this release, KCNA said the trial had no "negative impact" on the security of neighboring countries. The official agency said that this test is an "important achievement" because of the "great significance" that it has in the Pyongyang regime's strategy to contain the threats of the "external forces" and its attempts to strengthen its military power.

The launch was made a day after Pyongyang confirmed that in the next few days North Korea and the United States will resume their contacts , still on a technical level, with a view to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

Although a senior North Korean official said those contacts will take place on Friday and Saturday of this week, the United States has not yet confirmed the dates, although it has anticipated that consultations will be held in the next few days.
