The mussels do not like the water to become cloudy, which is a risk during the construction of the bridge and therefore up to 10,000 mussels should now get a new home. Construction of the 290 meter long bridge is expected to start around the turn of the year.

The municipality has hired divers to help. They pick up the mussels in a net bag and transport them by boat, immersed in water from their current location to a new home about 50-100 meters further upstream in the Klarälven River.

Rare mussel

The movement of the mussels will continue throughout the week. According to previously carried out inventories, it is about both pointed molluscs and flat scallops. The flat scallop is rare in Sweden and is classified as close to threatened.
