“We can talk about a phased transition to reducing the working week in a conventional format: 2020 - instead of 40-hour working week - 39 hours, 2021 - 38 hours, 2022 - 37 hours,” the deputy emphasized.

According to the parliamentarian, any serious transitions can and should be smooth.

Shein also noted that there is no catastrophe and tragedy in shortening the working week.

“In the XIX century, the beginning of the XX century, mankind twice switched to a serious reduction in working time. This was not accompanied by any collapse of the economy, but, on the contrary, by an increase in labor productivity, because people regained their strength, and, of course, a decrease in unemployment, ”he added.

In his opinion, such systemic decisions are important to carry out in coordination with the trade unions, which can suggest a number of important things.

Earlier, the Ministry of Labor sent a report to the government on the introduction of a four-day working week.

The initiative is proposed to be considered at the site of the Russian tripartite commission for the regulation of social and labor relations.
