"Stabbed in the back": what is known about the murder in Moscow of the colonel of the Investigative Committee

An employee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation received a fatal knife wound near the office building in Moscow. The UK says that a deceased named Vladislav Kapustin was in the rank of colonel.

“Today, in the performance of official duties, the comrade died at the walls of the Investigative Committee. Colonel Vladislav Kapustin went to the applicants to organize their personal reception. At that moment, the man stabbed the officer in the back with a knife, ”the report said.

According to a TASS source in law enforcement, the attacker on an IC officer was armed with improvised sharpening.

“At the scene, an object was found that resembled a knife. It turned out to be a home-made sharpening with a handle wrapped in tape, ”the agency quoted the interlocutor as saying.

According to him, the attacker held a weapon in his right hand and attacked Kapustin from behind, hitting the aorta and heart with a blow. It is reported that the wounded SK officer managed to get to the entrance and report the attack, after which he lost consciousness. The officer was taken to the Research Institute. Sklifosovsky, where he died in intensive care.

The agency published a video of the arrest of the attacker. The frames show how he stands near the wall in handcuffs, accompanied by several representatives of law enforcement agencies.

According to TASS, the attacker tried to escape, but he was detained by employees of the extra-departmental security service of the Russian Guard, who monitor the security at the SK building.

The central apparatus of the UK instituted criminal proceedings under the article “Attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer” (Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

As TASS clarifies with reference to its own source, Kapustin did not investigate criminal cases, and the attacker came to a personal meeting with complaints about the investigation.

“He was in a state of insanity,” the agency’s interlocutor described the attacker.

According to preliminary information, the man who killed the SK officer is registered in a neuropsychiatric dispensary. The detainee behaved inappropriately, after which he was assigned a psychological and psychiatric examination, the department said.

Investigators emphasized that they intend to carefully study all the circumstances of the attack on the officer. The agency also promised to support the Kapustin family, which left a wife and a child.

“The audacity of the crime should not leave any doubt that the person who committed it will answer in all severity of the law,” said the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.
