September 30, 2019 Today the Palace of Versailles opens its doors to everyone: it will be accessible virtually all over the world on the Google Arts & Culture platform. Users, thanks to Google technologies, can visit one of the most famous sites in the world with all its rooms, works of art and precious artifacts.

"Versailles: The Palace is Yours" is an online exhibition for those who cannot visit Paris or who want to explore the Palace in a new way. The project includes 18 virtual tours with over 340 works of art, including high-resolution royal family portraits and photos of the 19th-century Versailles archive, as well as 18 new 3D models of iconic rooms and objects never seen before .



The virtual journey
The virtual tour includes passages in the 73-meter long Galleria degli Specchi in the Camera del Re, up to the precious jewelery cabinet of Marie-Antoinette. Catherine Pègard, president of the Palace of Versailles spoke of a technological "novelty" in the world of culture, which accompanies visitors on a virtual reality tour.
