30 September 2019 "Lorenzo Marinelli and Daniel Bazzano did not shoot to kill and there was no premeditation". So the lawyers Alessandro Federicis and Giulia Cassaro defended two defendants, assisted by them, in front of the jupiter Daniela Caramico D'Auria, in the classroom where the trial related to the wounding of Manuel Bortuzzo is held.

The two are accused of attempted double premeditated murder and aggravated in connection with the wounding of the swimmer against which they fired the night between 2 and 3 February last in the Axa district of Rome. With Bortuzzo, at the time of the shooting, there was his girlfriend, who remained unharmed. Bortuzzo, reached by a bullet, was paralyzed in the legs. "The reconstruction of the dynamics of the blows shows that the blows were not fired with the intention of killing", defenders of the two defendants claiming the recognition of generic mitigating factors, argue. The sentence is expected on October 9th.

The prosecutor Elena Neri asks a sentence of 20 years for Marinelli and Bazzano, 24 and 25, accused of attempted double premeditated murder, aggravated by abject and futile reasons, receiving and holding firearms and brawls.

Manuel is hit by the bullet while he is near a bar in the Axa district, on the Roman coast. There was a fight in the bar and the police intervened. But Manuel was out with his girlfriend to decide where to spend the evening and stop at a tobacconist in Via Menandro, a stone's throw from the restaurant, when Marinelli and Bazzano ride on scooters on the road: the first shoots more shots towards the boy who is turned back.

A bullet hits him in the chest, pierces the lung and damages the vertebra. The marrow injury will no longer allow him to walk. The two attackers flee and are stopped only on February 6: Lorenzo Marinelli confesses that he had fired and says that just before he had been beaten and threatened by a person in the bar, who he had mistaken for Manuel.
