Water cannons against right-wing protesters during pride parade in Poland

2019-09-29T05:49:07.062Z

Water cannons and pepper spray were used against protesters who stopped at the Lublin Pride parade on Saturday, the AP news agency writes. The parade was previously banned by the mayor of Lublin - a decision that was subsequently ripped by the Polish court.

Hundreds of people participated in the Lublin Pride parade on Saturday, which met a large number of counter-protesters. A dozen protesters who tried to disrupt the event were arrested.

Pride parades have become more common in Poland in recent years. In 2017, seven parades were held and so far this year, 25 have been held, according to AP.
