The conservative party's annual congress opened on Sunday (September 29th) in Manchester in the midst of political chaos in the UK as divisions around Brexit are at their height. Before the opening of the Congress, Prime Minister Boris Johnson reaffirmed his determination to leave the EU on October 31 at any cost and this method Coué seems to dominate the congress.

" Get Brexit done ," " Let's do Brexit ." This is the official slogan of this big Conservative meeting this year. Their leader Boris Johnson sets the tone when he arrives in Manchester: he has no intention of resigning despite the systematic failure of his Brexit strategy in Parliament. An exit from the European bloc on October 31 is still quite possible with or without agreement.

Moreover, Boris Johnson defended tooth and nail his warlike rhetoric and the use of words such as "capitulation", "treason", "sabotage" against parliamentarians. A language that has earned him many critics.

Despite discordant minority voices, the conservative delegates met in Manchester seem to be following suit with their leader. With a conquering attitude, they say they are enthusiastic and confident that a positive resolution of the Brexit is close.

But in reality this 2019 congress is unlike any other: we are theoretically a month of Brexit, the government could at any time be swept away by a vote of no confidence of the deputies.

And while the Conservative delegates are meeting here, the Parliament is still in session in London, which is totally unusual and threatens to cast a considerable shadow over the congress.
