The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced on Sunday that 15 people were killed in the transit area of ​​El-Arish in North Sinai province, calling them terrorists.

The ministry said in a statement that "information was available to the national security sector (former State Security) about the hiding of a group of terrorist elements in a farm located in the neighborhood Hoss (transit area) Department of the police station Awal Arish, to prepare for the implementation of their hostile plans."

She pointed out that if they sensed the approach of the troops, they fired shots towards them, which called for dealing with them, and resulted in their death, where they were found in the possession of several automatic rifles, two explosive devices and an explosive belt.

This comes two days after the organization of the Sinai province adopted an attack that killed members of the joint military force between the army and police at the Apple checkpoint in northern Sinai.

Joint military and police forces have been waging a massive security crackdown on the Sinai peninsula for six years, allegedly fighting terrorism.
