It was earlier this week that the news came that the rechargeable Jojo cards will disappear from December 14. This also eliminates the 10% discount the cardholders received on their travels.

The hope is that more and more people will use the mobile app “Skånetrafiken” to buy tickets. It is also the prices and discounts in the app that will apply in the future, no matter how you choose to pay your trip.

- Many have misinterpreted us and believed that from now on you have to have a mobile phone in order to travel. This has led to a lot of concern and critical comments by phone, email and not least on our Facebook page. But things are starting to get better, the message has started to sink in, says Patrik Engfors, price and business manager at Skånetrafiken to SVT.

"Blippa" on the city bus

Anyone who lacks a smartphone, he explains, can use his debit card on buses. The city buses also introduce the possibility of "blipping", ie using so-called contactless payment card.

- You can say that it is just like using Jojo to buy a ticket, just a little less to keep track of, says Patrik Engfors.

Tickets can also be redeemed at vending machines or at Skånetrafiken's customer center or dealer. The jojo card is also replaced by a new card that can be loaded with either a 30-day ticket or an optional number of trips between two locations. Charging can be done either online or at a customer center / retailer.

Unlike the Jojo card, the new card lacks the cash register function, thus the possibility to charge a certain amount.

Quantity discount for everyone

Regardless of how you choose to pay, a discount of 25 percent applies when two or more travelers purchase a ticket at the same time, corresponding to today's "discount" in the app.

Anyone who currently has a special Jojo card - school card, service travel card or senior card - automatically gets a new plastic card sent home.

- It is possible to find pros and cons of all payment systems, but the starting point has been to make everything simpler and more uniform, Engfors sums up.

New prices clear

On Friday, the public transport board decided on new fares from December 14. The starting point is thus the prices stated in the Skånetrafiken app, with a surcharge of SEK 2 for travel in the "small zone" (new price SEK 27) and a SEK for "mid-zone" (new price SEK 51). The "big zone" will continue to cost SEK 105.
