A boat carrying over 50 people capsized off the coast of Libya. The UNHCR has announced it, adding that the rescuers are on the way.

It is not clear at the moment, whether it is the same boat with 56 on board for which Alarm Phone, the platform that helps migrants in the Mediterranean, has launched several alarms in these hours. "What else has to happen for the authorities to take responsibility for the situation?" he tweeted. It is a boat "started from Libya days ago", warned a first tweet late yesterday evening: "We have informed the authorities in Libya, Italy and Malta, but nobody has launched a rescue". As the hours passed the situation, as expected, worsened: "the castaways fear to die and ask for help. The people on board say they are embarking on water".

Around 1pm the last desperate sos from the boat: "they talk about human rights, but where are they? Please help us!" Alarm Phone ensures that it has informed Eunavfor Med (Operation Sophia), Coast Guard, French Coast Guard, Maltese Armed Forces and "the so-called Libyan Coast Guard".
