Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem on Saturday called for the immediate withdrawal of US and Turkish troops from Syria, threatening to take countermeasures and condemned Israel's violations, including its recent decision to annex the Golan Heights.

"Any foreign forces on our territory without our request are occupying forces and must withdraw immediately," Moualem said in a speech to the UN General Assembly in New York.

"The United States and Turkey are continuing their illegal military presence in northern Syria, and their arrogance has reached talks and agreements on the establishment of the so-called safe zone inside Syrian territory," Muallem said. "This is contrary to international law and the UN Charter."
