In Burkina Faso, nine people were shot dead by armed men on Saturday (September 28th) in Zimtanga commune in the North-Central region. According to security sources, this attack is the work of terrorists. Earlier this week, six people were shot dead in the same town. In recent months, the North Central region has been the subject of regular attacks by armed men.
The armed men, on about fifteen motorcycles, according to local sources, entered the commune of Zimtanga 25 kilometers from Kongoussi in the province of Bam, around 6am, Saturday morning.
" They first went to the home of the councilor of Komsilgha village ," says a witness. On the spot they shoot two people and go around some concessions. They kill eight people in total and take another inhabitant hostage. Before leaving the village, they set fire to shops and take away a motorcycle.
A few hours later, the hostage is found dead in a nearby village. " They hanged him, " says a local source.
On the same day Saturday, another attack is reported a little further north, in the neighboring Sahel region . Coming to the market for supplies, elements of Deou's military detachment are targeted by armed men. A soldier is killed during the exchange of fire.
According to a security source, this new attack is the work of the same armed group, author of the attack on the village of Komsilgha.
