On Saturday, ceremonies are held in many parts of the country in memory of the accident, including at the memorial site at Gamla cemetery and Uppsala cathedral.

- It is a nice way for us most concerned to give the dead a tribute, they are worthy, says Lasse Johnsen, who lost his daughter in the accident.

Many people still feel bad

Although it has been a quarter of a century, the wounds have not healed and many relatives of the perished are still ill - nothing unusual after serious events, research shows in Uppsala.

- Our follow-ups from many different disasters show that the psychological consequences can last for a long time and that a certain proportion of those affected do not fully recover. But there is help to get, says Filip Arnberg, program director at the Knowledge Center for Disaster Psychiatry at Uppsala University.
